Autumn Styling by Temperature: 25°C / 17°C

Following a month of continuous rain in Tokyo, we have seen a total turnaround to pleasant, autumnal weather with plenty of sunshine and a comfortable breeze. On the other hand, while temperatures may rise to around 25°C during the day, they can drop to around 17°C in the mornings and evenings. This significant fluctuation throughout the day is a unique challenge for this time of year.

This time, we will introduce styling tips tailored to these two temperature points: 25°C during the day and 17°C in the morning and evening. These combinations allow you to transition from day to night simply by adding one extra item, so please use them as a reference.

Styling for around 25°C during the day

While it still feels warm under the sun, it can feel quite cool in the shade or in breezy areas. For days around 25°C—when it’s "not too hot and not too cold"—we recommend the VOID KNIT TOP.

This expressive top combines a three-dimensional, popcorn-like knit with sheer panels. Because it is made of a stretchy, non-brushed material, it feels as light as it looks. It’s the perfect piece for this time of year, when summer clothes feel a bit insufficient, but it’s still too early for heavy autumn/winter knits.

In the photos, I’ve paired it with velveteen trousers to add an autumnal texture to the lightness of the top.

The VOID KNIT TOP is also characterized by a design that looks different from the front and back. The sleeve slits and vertical oval cutouts create a nice sense of ease, ensuring it doesn't look too heavy even in black. It strikes just the right balance for daytime temperatures that still hold a bit of summer heat.

Styling for around 17°C morning and evening

During the hours when the temperature drops significantly in the morning and evening, add a knit scarf to adjust your comfort. Since the VOID KNIT TOP—the same one worn during the day—is made of a sheer knit, if you start to feel chilly, you can simply pull the scarf from your bag and wrap it around yourself. For this time of year when it’s not quite coat weather, adjusting with non-bulky accessories is very convenient.

This time, I paired it with the Soft Knit Scarf, which was introduced as a fall/winter accessory for this season. It’s the type of scarf you fold along its long diagonal edge to wear; despite being lightweight, it has the natural fullness of wool, and the soft touch against the skin is comforting and warm. Because the nap is short, it doesn't look heavy, making it a versatile piece you can use from now through early spring.

Scarves and stoles aren't just for cold protection; they also serve as an accent to your styling. When the temperature rises during the day and you take it off, I recommend wrapping it around your waist.

Adding just one wool item like this really enhances the autumnal feel of your entire outfit.
